So not only does being a mummy mean I get to experience all of the pleasures and rewards of watching a little piece of us grow and change each day but it also opens up a whole new world of shopping! Nursery interiors, playroom ideas and baby clothes now fill my internet search history and I have become quite the expert at hunting for something a bit different. While the everyday high street shops have some great bits and are becoming much more varied with their range, I do find myself getting annoyed with how hard it is to find boys clothing that is not bright blue, with pictures of cars or cartoon characters on.
When it comes to toys I vowed never to have colourful plastic everywhere, however that’s what he seems to be drawn to (although he’s more than happy to empty the kitchen cupboards and spend hours putting OXO cubes in and out of the box!) So I spend all of my pennies on lovely wooden toys and bits for display and put all the fun plastic stuff in carefully coordinating storage baskets!
I absolutely ❤️ instagram for getting ideas and finding independent shops or makes of bits and pieces that I’ve not seen before. I follow some great people so have a click through and see if anyone tickles your taste buds! However I do find that lots of the brands I love seem to be from across the pond, (I love Scandi style toys and interiors and Australia seem to have some super cool baby clothes) meaning they are difficult to get hold of or just takes a little more hunting down!
So if anyone has any favourite places for something different then I would love to hear!
